Cha Guo
Cha Guo, which translated literally as “tea dumpling”, is a traditional Hong Kong snack made from glutinous rice power and a local herb. There are both sweet and savoury varieties. In Tai O, Cha Kwo Choi is where you can sample this popular snack. In addition to the signature steamed snack, you will also find glutinous rice mochi filled with sweetened mashed black-eyed pea, peanuts and red bean paste, etc. Chinese herbal tea is also in store during weekends. Cha Kwo Choi insists on using charcoal to produce fresh offerings every day. His Cha Guo is famed for its pleasantly chewy skin and generous fillings. A must-try delicacy of Tai O!
