Tai O Fishing Village
Tai O is the oldest fishing village and one of the most popular attractions in Hong Kong. Make this rustic fishing village your starting point to explore the water world of Lantau. Tai O is more than a culturally enriching attraction. It is now a hot spot for eco-tourism. Since the opening of Ngong Ping Cable Car, Tai O has become more accessible. It is only a 15-minute drive away from Ngong Ping Village.
Tai O Boat Excursion
In addition to handmade dried seafood and local specialties, the main street of Tai O is also the home to an iron footbridge renovated from the former ferry raft. Go on one of the boats parked under the iron footbridge and embark on your 20-minute boat ride. As your ride takes you around the waterways of the fishing village, you can appreciate the iconic stilt houses of Tai O, the “General’s Rock”, and Tai O Heritage Hotel (former Tai O police station) up close.
Dragon Boat Water Parade
During the Dragon Boat Festival, villagers would place statues of deities from local temples on small boats and parade through the waterways. The ritual was inscribed on China's third national list of intangible cultural heritage in 2011.
Join the 360 Lantau Culture and Heritage Insight Tour or 360 Lantau Sunset Tour for a special boat ride that tours the waterways of Tai O and observe stilt houses up close. Professional guides will also bring you into and exclusive visit to the stilt houses, where you can experience life as a fisherman. If you enjoy travelling at your own pace, the 360 Fun Pass will provide you with the transport convenience to visit every corner of Lantau.
