In order to minimise the impact on environment, helicopters and mules were used to transport over 12,000 tonnes of materials in conjunction with Ngong Ping 360’s construction.

Environmentally-friendly system that meets international standards

Regarding the infrastructure, the cable cars were designed in such a way that noises from Ngong Ping 360’s system and motors are reduced to meet the requirements of the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK-BEAM) and to minimise noise pollution to nearby residents.

The exterior lighting levels are also maintained to international standards to reduce light pollution.

Crystal Cabin, first-of-its-kind

The Crystal Cabin is believed to be the first-ever cable car system to adopt a full-width single piece of glass for a cabin bottom.

Official opening of Ngong Ping 360

Ngong Ping 360 was officially opened on 18 September 2006. It is destined to be one of Hong Kong’s ‘must-see’ tourist attractions.
