Construction of Ling Yan Abbey began in 1928. Located in Keung Shan Village, Tai O, the abbey was built in a four-column style and surrounded by mountains on three sides, in the lush vegetation of bamboo and flowers. The sound of water flowing from nearby river streams, the wooden drums and clappers that accompany Buddhist chants, the stone walls and wooden doors, as well as the red walls and green tiles in the main hall of the abbey highlight the peacefulness of the Abbey, making it the best place to cleanse and purify one’s mind.
