At 934 m above sea level, Lantau Peak is the second tallest peak in Hong Kong. Since the main and secondary peaks have been called the phoenix corner in the Gazetteer of Xin'an county, Lantau Peak is also known as Phoenix Peak in Chinese. As a hot spot to appreciate sun rise in Hong Kong, this is where many people would climb up just to capture the beautiful moment of the sun rising. To get a glimpse of the stunning sun rise, you can consider staying at a hostel in Ngong Pong the night before and start your hike before dawn at “Sunrise in Lantau” of Ngong Ping Fun Walk. Follow the “stairway to heaven” and walk for about 2 hours to reach the peak to wait for the moment.
