For many, a day out in Tai O means walking along the main street, sampling charcoal grilled egg puffs, visiting the native stilt houses, or dolphin watching on a boat excursion. Certainly, the experience will not be complete without watching sunset on Sun Ki Bridge for taking an endless collection of pictures. How about trying something new this time? Check out the video by iplayhk.com, the introduces to you a usually forgotten hiking trail in Tai O. You do not only get to see the bays of Tai O, but also an entire bay of the Pearl River Delta!
Walk down Kat Hing Back Street and turn right to arrive at Yeung Hau Temple. You would walk pass Kau San Tei Lookout Pavilion, where you can observe the view before setting off for your hike. Walk through the small green gate and then up the stairsteps to Fu Shan.
The hiking trail to Fu Shan will delight you with expansive seascapes. Standing in the middle of the hiking trail, you can see two vastly different views. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is on one side, and planes are either taking off or landing at the Hong Kong International Airport. On the other side, you can see the bay of Tai O, which is filled with the nostalgia of an age-old fishing village. Walk all the way up to reach the Fu Shan Pavilion. This is a hotspot for checking in and taking pictures, as you will be surrounded by beautiful views in all directions. You can take stunning pictures from every angle. Do stay for sunset and feel the warmth of the setting sun.
